Kitchen Remodel and Lower-Level Addition
Kitchen remodel
Lower-level renovation
Family-friendly design
This nearly century-old home in Wisconsin was full of charm—but the kitchen and lower level no longer fit the lifestyle of a busy family with three children. Coach House Homes was brought in to reimagine the space, delivering a stunning transformation that blends family functionality with refined style.
The outdated and compartmentalized kitchen was opened up to the adjoining dining room to create a more fluid and connected layout. The design team tackled the complexities of the remodel head-on, including matching original plaster textures and incorporating radiant floor heating for modern comfort. The heart of the home now features a whimsical and inviting breakfast nook, complete with a custom hand-painted wood floor that adds storybook charm to everyday moments.
Downstairs, the homeowners envisioned an adult-friendly retreat—an elevated speakeasy-style lounge that would feel completely separate from the hustle and bustle of family life. The once dark and underutilized lower level was completely reworked into a dark, moody, and polished entertaining space, perfect for hosting or relaxing at the end of the day.
This project is a testament to how thoughtful design and craftsmanship can honor a home’s history while bringing it into the present day—beautifully tailored for both everyday life and grown-up gatherings.
